North Alabama Children First is a alliance among early care and education providers, advocates, and parents to form a collaborative task force for several First Class sites throughout North Alabama. Alabama's Office of School Readiness (OSR) is responsible for statewide school readiness and First Class: Alabama's Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program.
Per Open School Readiness (OSR) guidelines, all First Class sites must form a collaborative task force. There are several First Class sites throughout North Alabama. Last year the Directors of these sites decided it was in the best interest of our programs to combine our efforts and create a single task force for the whole county. Through intentional effort to reach out to all community agencies and individuals who have an impact on all children in North Alabama, our task force has grown in size since our creation. We anticipate that through our collaborative efforts we may also grow in influence to make a positive difference for the children of North Alabama.
In order to communicate effectively with all families, not just families enrolled in a First Class program, it was decided that we would create a single website to post workshop opportunities for teachers and families, family and community events as well as links to the individual programs to guide families to quality care centers. We would also like to extend our efforts to include the surrounding counties.
North Alabama Children First has a stong and diverse membership consisting of teachers, parents, administrtors and educators. A short biography about each member is provided for you by selecting on their name above.
